Your guide arrives at the hotel or agreed pick up location in Arusha during the morning before departing toward Arusha National Park, situated on the lower slopes of Mount Meru. After arrival at the park gate and completion of entry formalities, the game drive begins through montane forest where black and white colobus monkeys are frequently seen leaping between old cedar trees.
Covering approximately 552 sq km, Arusha National Park differs from the most famous northern parks through its varied terrain, ranging from crater highlands and open grassland to alkaline lakes and thick forest sections. Wildlife sightings may include giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, zebras, bushbucks, and occasionally elephants near quieter sections of the park.
The tour later continues toward the Momella Lakes, an important habitat for flamingos and water birds depending on the season. Lunch is served at a designated picnic site with views of the surrounding landscape and Mount Meru on clear days. Guests who arrange the activity in advance may later continue with a guided walking safari accompanied by an armed park ranger.
This experience offers a closer look at smaller wildlife, tracks, birdlife, and native vegetation not normally experienced during regular game drives. The day concludes in the late afternoon with the return drive to Arusha and drop off at the hotel or preferred location.
