Departure is usually arranged between 7:30 am and 8:00 am from your hotel in Arusha or any agreed pick up point within the city. The drive heads toward Moshi before turning onto smaller countryside roads along open farmland, acacia trees, local homes, and seasonal dry riverbeds.
Arrival at Kikuletwa, locally known as Chemka Hot Springs, is around late in the morning after registration formalities at the entrance. From the parking area, a short footpath leads to the natural spring pool shaded by fig and palm trees. The water here comes directly from underground sources and maintains a clear turquoise appearance throughout the year. Some sections of the pool reach depths exceeding 10 metres, making caution necessary for non-swimmers, though ropes and shallow edges are accessible near the pool.
The afternoon slows down with time for swimming, floating beneath tree roots, or resting under the shade beside the water. Small fish are often present near the edges of the spring and occasionally gather around submerged feet and hands, producing the familiar tingling sensation associated with natural fish spas. Blue monkeys and baboons are sometimes spotted in nearby trees, particularly during quieter hours around midday.
A towel, water shoes, and spare clothing are recommended due to slippery surfaces near the springs. Packed lunch is served beside the pool before spending the remaining hours at leisure. Later in the afternoon, you return to Arusha and droped off at your hotel or preferred location. End of tour.
