Tour Overview

This safari follows the long wildlife corridor stretching from Tarangire to Northern Serengeti, placing emphasis on seasonal wildlife concentration. It all begins at the elephant and baobab country of Tarangire before turning toward the central Serengeti.

The route then continues to Northern Serengeti, a unique ecosystem associated with river crossings during the migration months, before wrapping up at the Ngorongoro Crater. The local flight arrangement is intended to reduce long return drives and allow more time in the park.

Tarangire Safari Lodge Or Tented Camp

Today involves a longer drive, though the changing ecosystem keeps the route interesting from start to finish. The road passes through the Ngorongoro highlands before descending into Serengeti National Park through Naabi Hill Gate. Covering nearly 14,763 sq km, Serengeti remains one of Africa’s most revered wildlife ecosystems, particularly known for predator concentration and the annual wildebeest migration.

Game viewing begins shortly after entering the park, with chances of seeing lions, cheetahs, and hyena activity near resident herbivore groups. A packed lunch will be served during the drive toward Central Serengeti. The afternoon continues with game drives around the Seronera region, where year round water sources sustain steady wildlife activity before heading to your lodge for dinner and a good night sleep.

Central Serengeti safari camp / lodge

Today’s focus is in Central Serengeti, allowing more time to explore for as long as conditions and animal movement allow. Early risers may join an optional hot air balloon safari arranged in advance, followed by breakfast in the bush after landing. The rest of the morning continues with game drives through the Seronera Valley, an area known for frequent leopard sightings near riverine trees and strong lion presence around kopjes.

Central Serengeti also supports large numbers of resident herbivores throughout the year, which naturally attracts predators into relatively concentrated areas. Lunch is served at the lodge / camp before returning to the field for another afternoon game drive. As daylight softens, wildlife activity often increases around drainage lines and open plains before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.

This morning begins with a drive northward through changing sections of Serengeti ecosystem, where grass plains slowly give way to rolling terrain and scattered woodland. The route toward Northern Serengeti often rewards with good wildlife encounters along the way, particularly during migration months when wildebeests gather near water sources and crossing points. Predator sightings are also common in these regions due to the concentration of grazing animals.

Lunch is served picnic style during the journey before continuing toward the Kogatende area near the Mara River. Compared to Central Serengeti, the north sees fewer vehicles and offers a more remote atmosphere. Arriving in the late afternoon, there is time for a short game drive before settling into camp  lodge, where the evening usually ends beside the fire after dinner.

Northern Serengeti Tented Camp / Lodge

Northern Serengeti receives much attention during migration season due to the river crossing activity associated with the Mara River system. Timing always depends on rainfall patterns, though the area regularly attracts large concentrations of wildebeest, zebra, crocodiles, and predators during peak movement periods.

Much of today is spent exploring river sections, open hills, and surrounding woodland where game viewing can shift quickly between wildlife activity. A picnic lunch is served in the bush to allow longer time in the field. Aside from migration viewing, the region also supports elephant, topi, eland, and occasional leopard sightings along rocky drainage areas. By late afternoon, the game drive winds down with a return to camp / lodge for dinner and another overnight stay in Northern Serengeti.

A final morning game drive in Northern Serengeti allows additional wildlife viewing before transfer to the nearby airstrip for a scheduled bush flight to the central part of the safari circuit. The flight reduces the long overland return and offers aerial views of the African savanna, woodland sections and open plains below. Upon arrival, the journey continues by road toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the landscape changes noticeably into cooler highland terrain.

Lunch is served at the lodge after arrival, leaving time to rest or enjoy views overlooking the crater rim and surrounding forested slopes. Wildlife occasionally appears near the lodge area, including buffalo and bushbuck. The evening remains relaxed with dinner at the lodge and preparations for the crater descent scheduled the following morning.

Ngorongoro Crater Rim Lodge

The descent into Ngorongoro Crater begins early due to vehicle movement regulations within the conservation area. Formed through volcanic collapse, the crater spans approximately 260 sq km and supports a dense concentration of wildlife sustained by permanent water and enclosed grazing grounds. The crater floor offers higher possibilities for lion sightings, hyena, buffalo, zebra, hippos, and black rhino in certain sections. Game drives continue through forest patches, soda lake edges, and open grassland while your guide tracks wildlife activity throughout the morning.

Lunch is served near the hippo pool before continuing with another short game drive. By mid to late afternoon, you ascend back to the crater rim where the evening remains quiet with dinner and overnight near Ngorongoro.
